					  	  Frequently Asked Questions

						  Q.
						  I’m retired/a custodial
						officer/ a public officer.  Am I eligible?

Yes, most retired law enforcement officials, custodial officers, and public officers are eligible. For additional details, see out eligibility section. If you are still unsure, please contact us.

						  Q.  I ordered one of the
packages, when will my information be removed from the
						  databases?

Per Government Code 6254.21, companies shall remove your information within 48 hours from receiving your written demand. It has been our experience that your information will be removed within four to nine weeks after the demand letters are received. If, for some reason, they are not removed afterwards, please contact us immediately and we will submit additional letters as necessary.

						  Q.  What happens if a company refuses to remove my information?

If for some reason a company refuses to remove your information, we will submit additional demand letters at no cost to you. If they continue to refuse to comply, California Government Code 6254.21(d) provides a civil penalty. IDremoval.com cannot guarantee the removal of your information; however, our personal data was removed without any issues along with the data of the people we tested prior to launching the company.
If you find that a company continues to refuse to remove your information after we have submitted follow-up demands for removal, we will send the company a letter educating them on the Government Code so they are aware of it. If they continue to refuse, we recommend you seek legal counsel. We are not attorneys and cannot provide legal advice. If you decide to consult with an attorney, we will provide
copies of the letters we submit to the data vendors for your records.

						  Q.  Can I just do this
						  myself?

						  	Sure!  Be prepared to
spend some time (a lot of time) on the internet researching the large
volume of database companies that contain your personal information and sending out letters
to each individual company.  Don’t forget to
monitor those companies on a weekly basis as well just
in case a record resurfaces.  Then continue to
send out additional letters.  Or...  we can
						  handle everything for you!

						  Q.  How do they get my
						  information in the first place?

Data vendors get your
information from public records.  Those include
birth certificates, marriage licenses, divorce records, property
records, voter registration, and the three credit
bureaus.  Businesses also sell your personal
information to other businesses.  They also get your
information when you register a product.

						  Q.  Will ID Removal.com sell
						  my information?

Absolutely not. We will not sell your personal information to anyone.

						  Q.  Do I have to purchase
						  this again next year?

 	No!  Per Government
Code § 6254.21, your demand is effective for four
years.  However, every time you get married, get divorced, buy
a house, move, register a product, there is
possibility for your personal information to
resurface.  We recommend that you purchase our
Monitoring Service so you do not have to worry about your personal information
						  resurfacing in the future!

						  			   Q.

									  I Googled my name and
still found information about me on the internet, why?

If you appeared in a blog or a news article, it is protected speech. However, if you find a site or a person posting your personal information online,
we may be able to help if it meets the requirements for removal
under GC 6254.21. We can't help if you participate in web forums, MySpace or Facebook and post personal information online. We also can't help with newspapers posting your name and salary online either. However, by purchasing an ID Removal Package, when people identify you as a law enforcmenet officer from newspapers that post your salary online, they won't be able to find out where you live since we will have your address and phone number removed from search sites.

account, I post information in web forums, and I
use social media sites.  Should I still
